Deployment

In N-central, customers are added and configured in minutes

Automated Configuration Management is an integrated set of features to enable MSPs to rapidly configure and deploy remote monitoring and management to customers in four simple steps:

Automated Configuration Management consists of five elements which together accelerate the customer setup process and lower the cost of administration:

You set up the account, configure the customer, configure probes and auto-discovery - then, discovered devices are automatically configured.

Customer Wizard: The Customer Wizard allows technicians to quickly add and configure a new customer in four simple steps:

  • Set up the customer account
  • Configure the customer by creating the needed Smart Folders from the Folder Templates
  • Configure the probe and Auto-Discovery task and install the probe on the customer network
  • Execute the Auto-Discovery task

Once Auto-Discovery is completed, N-central will import the devices to the appropriate Smart Folders. The Service Templates and Notification Profiles are then automatically applied. You will see the information from the customer site appear in the N-central dashboards in five minutes if you use the default setting for the scan interval.

Auto-Discovery: N-central uses both agent and probe technology to gather information and report properties from all IP-enabled devices on a network.

Service Templates: Define service parameters, such as configuration data and thresholds, that are to be mapped to a device. Changes made at the Service Organization (SO) level can be propagated to all devices that are mapped to the Service Template. A single Service Template can include multiple monitoring services such as disk, CPU, memory and printer toner level, and can be used with multiple device types.

Folder Templates: Associate folders with Dashboards, Service Templates and Notification. Defined at the SO level, Folder Templates can be used across multiple customers.

Smart Folders: Created from Folder Templates or manually, Smart Folders contain all of the devices within a customer network that satisfy the auto-assignment logic for device type, operating system and/or name (which can include a wildcard).
