When you find a company with employees who truly embody the spirit of giving, it\u2019s something really special. At\u00a0N‑able<\/span><\/a>, our N-ablites help make our company unique and a great place to work by doing just that.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our\u00a0N‑able<\/span>\u00a0VoluNteer Spotlight series honors and promotes the tireless work of N-ablite volunteers around the globe and\u00a0dives deeper into their stories and the causes they support. All global N-ablites receive two fully paid VoluNteer Days\u00a0to\u00a0give their time and talents to surrounding communities.<\/span><\/p>\n

In this edition of our Volunteer Spotlight, we join Matt Cox, Director, Sales Engineering and the RTP members of the Solutions Engineering team at Kramden Institute<\/a>. Kramden was born out of a father-son duo\u2019s love of computers. Between 2003 and 2004, they donated over 90 personal computers and 50 monitors to middle school students, and today Kramden Institute has grown to award over 48,000 computers to families across North Carolina and beyond and provides technology tools and training. <\/span><\/p>\n

Matt shares with us what it was like for him and the team to be able support students through technology.<\/span><\/p>\n

Matt, tell us a bit about why you and the team support Kramden Institute?<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

Kramden\u2019s mission fits nicely with our skills and is a great story in line with our partners. They provide free or low-cost laptops and desktops to those that need it. This brings technology into homes and enables learning about some of the ways N‑able and our partners work with tech every day.<\/span><\/p>\n

What did you and the team do while volunteering? <\/span><\/h3>\n

We refurbished and tested a massive stack of laptops! We loaded new operating systems and tested the batteries, sound, and cameras, and then documented the processor and memory cards for record keeping. Once we were done, these laptops were ready to go out the door to people that can use them! <\/span><\/p>\n

Working at a technology company, it\u2019s exciting to know that we were able to help support students and families gain access to technology that can help them learn, encourage an interest in STEM (<\/span>science, technology, engineering and mathematics)<\/span>, and make a positive impact in their lives.<\/span><\/p>\n

What core value do you feel you were able to display on your VoluNteer Day and why?<\/span><\/h3>\n

Definitely, N-rich Lives! Kramden is \u2018bridging the digital divide\u2019. Members of our community will be able to do great work with a lightly used laptop and who knows what they will build\u2026 It could be anything! We like to think there could even be a future N-ablite getting their first computer.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n
