Rebuilding Resilience through Co-Managed MDR/XDR with dotnet Technologies
Challenge
Mid-sized organizations often struggle with fragmented visibility, limited internal resources, and inconsistent automation maturity. For dotnet, these constraints became especially apparent when onboarding a new manufacturing client.
Results
EDR helped identify the issue but without full visibility attacker got in through a weak firewall so dotnet completed full deployment of Adlumin MDR. The platform’s broad ingestion capability (firewall, DNS, O365, etc.) and SOC automation helped close critical gaps.

About dotnet Technologies
dotnet Technologies is a managed services provider (MSP) focused on serving mid-market clients, particularly in manufacturing. With a specialty in co-managed IT, they empower internal IT teams by extending reach and visibility without requiring additional in-house expertise, international operations.

Challenge
Within 30 days of onboarding a new client, the customer was hit with a full-scale ransomware attack through an unpatched firewall that the previous MSP had overlooked.
Despite having SentinelOne EDR deployed, full Adlumin MDR had not yet been implemented. This left a visibility gap that adversaries exploited.
EDR alone wasn’t enough. The EDR platform played a critical front-line role, acting as a “whack-a-mole” defense mechanism that mitigated spread. However, without broader telemetry—like firewall, DNS, and authentication logs—lateral movement and command-and-control patterns were initially missed.
Solution
Post-incident, dotnet completed full deployment of Adlumin MDR. The platform’s broad ingestion capability (firewall, DNS, Office 365, etc.) and SOC automation helped close critical gaps:
- Out-of-the-box playbooks for immediate threat mitigation
- Automated noise reduction, freeing internal teams to focus on business initiatives
- Increased visibility across the network, especially at ingress/egress points
dotnet Technologies now uses this layered approach as a blueprint for its co-managed offering:
- Simplified packaging with a single full-stack service
- Standardized QBR reporting using third party tools like ScalePad with Adlumin data integrated
- Accelerated onboarding and client readiness—“Day One resilience”
Résultats
- Customer retention through high-trust incident response
- Streamlined operations through automation and visibility
- Faster go-to-market for new co-managed deals
dotnet’s experience reinforces that MDR success hinges on visibility. EDR, automation, and SOC support only deliver value if they can “see” the threats.
Had we not been there, it would’ve been a lot worse. But layered security saved the day—even without full MDR at first.
