Volunteer Spotlight: Andy Lancaster

We love celebrating how N-ablites use their two fully paid VoluNteer Days to make a difference in their communities. This time, we’re shining a spotlight on Andy Lancaster, Senior Solutions Engineer, who spent his time volunteering for GamesDoneQuick, a series of video game marathons to raise funds for charities such as Doctors Without Borders and Prevent Cancer Foundation —another example of how N-ablites are driving positive change, one action at a time.

Why do you love to support this organization?

I have been volunteering for GamesDoneQuick for 9 years! Video games have always been a hobby of mine, and I came across video game speed running about 13 years ago. Speed running, as the name implies, focuses on completing the objective as quickly as possible. The creativity and problem solving it requires has always been something that interested me.

What were your main responsibilities while volunteering?

My involvement  included being in the tech crew, as well as helping processing donations. These events are always fun, and it’s a great way that the video game community can help raise money for causes we care about.

Which core value do you feel like you were able to display on your volunteer day and why?

These events align with all three of our core values. N-Rich Lives because we are helping to raise money for charity. N-spire Others as the events raise awareness about  video game speed runners and supports a lot of different groups and charities. N-Joy the Journey because these events are always a fun time of community and catching up with people I only see a couple times a year. These events are attended by people around the globe and streamed worldwide! I can leverage my enjoyment of video games and speed running to make an impact for worthy causes.

Stories like Andy’s remind us why VoluNteer Days matter—they give us the chance to step outside our daily routines and make a real impact in the communities we care about. Stay tuned for more inspiring stories like Andy’s from our N-ablites across the globe. In the meantime, check out some of our other VoluNteer Spotlights:
