5 ways to help grow your MSP business this new year

January has always been a time when we look back at the previous year and ask ourselves ‘What could I have done differently?’. This can often then lead us on to setting some new year’s resolutions, which we hope will make the coming year much better. Sadly, for many of us these have fallen by the wayside come February. With so many resources on offer from N‑able we can make it easier for you to stick to your resolution goals, so I thought it would be a good idea to suggest some resolutions you can try to enhance your work life. Now the stars among you will do them all, but even if you can pick a few and stick to them, your MSP business will benefit from it.
Complete at least one course in N‑able U
When I say complete at least one course in the N‑able U, I mean one a week, one a month, or one a quarter. Of course, I realise every company is different, and not everyone will have the same availability to complete these courses so choose the frequency that works for you.
N‑able U contains a wealth of information, if your role is in sales and marketing or business development, N‑able U has learning paths for emerging, growing, and scaling MSPs. If your work is more technical, then there is a whole host of technical training boot camps, covering all the products in the N‑able portfolio; so make sure everyone in your organization is aware of what’s on offer so they can take advantage of it.
The thing that I really love about N‑able U is that you can setup teams and nominate a leader who can assign courses to the rest of the team. This is a great way to track what training is being done, you can learn more about this here.
Attend a new boot camp
There are over 40 Head Nerd-hosted boot camps and this number is growing all the time. These topic-specific boot camps are a great way to enhance your knowledge on everything from automation, data protection, and business, to monitoring, operations, and security. Like I mentioned above, set yourself a goal of attending at least one new boot camp a week, month, or quarter depending on your schedule. If you have been a regular attendee in the past, keep an eye out for new boot camps as the Head Nerds are always looking to add more. Click here to visit the boot camp events page, and make sure you bookmark it so you can keep regular track of what’s coming up.
Make Office Hours a regular thing
With six different regular Office Hours to choose from, if you have a technical or MSP business related question, then these are a great a forum for you to get an instant answer. I love hosting the N‑central Office Hours, no two sessions are ever the same as you never know what questions will be asked. Even if you don’t have something to ask, I would still recommend attending as often questions posed by others can trigger thoughts and ideas in your own head. So, make sure you start the new year on the right foot and register for Office Hours now. Click here to find out more.
Download and use scripts from the Automation Cookbook
Manual repetitive tasks are time consuming and boring. I’m sure you’d much rather be learning something new in a boot camp or posing your questions in an Office Hours, but the work still needs to be done. If only there was a way of automating these repetitive tasks? Well as luck would have it there is. The N‑able Automation Cookbook has over 750 automation polices, custom monitors, and pre-built scripts either written in-house or by other MSPs who are using automation capabilities, so you know you are getting scripts that work, and work well. One of my first rules for partners when looking to do something, if the product doesn’t do it out of the box, is to make sure you check out the Automation Cookbook as it’s highly likely someone else has done a lot of the heaving lifting for you. This impressive library of scripts is growing all the time, so I’m pretty sure you’ll find something in there that you can use today to help you streamline how you work.

Use MarketBuilder to build your brand
Now if you’re in the technical side of the business, this is going to be an easy one for you as you’re going to check with your colleagues responsible for sales and marketing and make sure they are using MarketBuilder.
MarketBuilder gives you content and campaigns that are proven to engage prospects and generate qualified leads. There’s no need to install special software, with just a few clicks you can have a full campaign ready to go with your brand, your logo, and your own messaging.
And the best part? MarketBuilder and all the resources you’ll find there are included as part of your N‑able product subscription. So, if your business is not using it today, make sure your team signs up to MarketBuilder here.
These are just some suggestions of the things you can consider to get more out of the products you use and enhance your business. If you have questions join me on the N-Central office hours or my colleagues on the other office hours at www.n-able.com/events.
