The world of managed IT is evolving, and so is the demand for better Linux support. At N‑able, we’ve been listening closely to partners and IT pros who need enterprise-grade capabilities for their Linux environments and we’re excited to give you a sneak peek at what’s coming soon to N‑central.

Whether you’re managing a mixed environment or fully embracing open-source infrastructure, the upcoming Linux enhancements are built to give you more control, better security, and broader support.

Patch and Vulnerability Management for Linux

Managing updates across Windows and Mac devices is already a strength of N‑central—and we’re bringing that same power and automation to Linux. Soon, you’ll be able to:

  • Automate patch approvals and deployment for supported Linux distros
  • Leverage vulnerability insights to prioritize security patches
  • View compliance and update status from a centralized dashboard
  • Failed Patches view — Do Linux Patches Fail?

Think of it as giving your Linux fleet the same TLC you already give to Windows. Feature parity (or function parity) across Windows, Mac and Linux is our focus.

Integrated Take Control for Linux Devices

Remote support for Linux has traditionally lagged in IT Operations—until now. With upcoming Take Control support:

  • Technicians will be able to initiate secure remote sessions to support Linux endpoints
  • Troubleshoot issues, update configs, or provide hands-on support
  • All while maintaining a fairly consistent workflow alongside Windows and Mac

This is a game-changer for MSPs and IT teams supporting developers, infrastructure engineers, or education labs running Linux.

Distro Diversity: Support for 8 different Linux variants

Linux isn’t just one thing—it’s many different flavours. And N‑central is getting smarter about which variants you rely on. Today we will support:

  • AlmaLinux
  • CentOS
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Debian
  • Ubuntu

(With support for 3 or more additional distros to be revealed soon.)

This multi-distro support means you won’t be locked into a particular flavor of Linux. Whether you’re dealing with legacy CentOS systems or moving to AlmaLinux or RHEL for commercial support, N‑central will be ready.

Why does all of this matter to you?

Managing Linux has often required an entirely separate toolkit or worse, a manual process. With these updates, you’ll be able to:

  • Standardized patching and remote access across all OS types
  • Reduce security gaps in your open-source environments
  • Offer Linux management as a value-added service to new and existing clients
