N‑able VoluNteer Spotlight: Feeding our Communities

Our VoluNteer Spotlight series honors and shares how N-ablites across the globe make the most of their two fully paid VoluNteer Days each year by serving the communities where they live and work. We’re so proud of our N-ablites passion to serve others and champion the importance of giving. The result is a culture that drives progress, changes lives, and makes a bigger impact—one story at a time.
This time we’re checking in with N-ablites from our Raleigh-Durham and Boston Collaboration Hubs after they each spent a VoluNteer Day serving their local food banks, that distribute food to local pantries, soup kitchens, and partners that help people in need.
Tell us why you love to support your local food bank.
“Ensuring the people in our local communities have access to healthy food is very important. Last year, the Greater Boston Food Bank distributed more than 109 million pounds of healthy food—which is the equivalent of over 90 million meals! VoluNteers are a critical resource in accomplishing these numbers, so I was honored to be a small part of the effort to feed the community, and I loved seeing the immediate results from our hard work!” Jim Bell, Director, Marketing, Boston Hub
What were your duties while volunteering?
“My fellow N-ablites and I N-joyed rolling up our sleeves and working with our hands to help serve the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. From unloading food packages from trucks, to inspecting, cleaning, and bundling food items such as apples, potatoes, and canned goods, we were able to have a direct impact as all of this was sent off immediately to the distribution centers. It was an incredible feeling spending the day being part of such a meaningful cause that changes lives in our community.” Andrew Reinhardt, Director, Web Product Management, Raleigh-Durham Hub
Which N‑able core value do you feel like you were able to display on your VoluNteer Day and why?
“The values we most displayed on our VoluNteer Day were N-rich Lives and N-joy the Journey because we were helping to make a difference for people in the community, but most importantly we did this together and had a lot of laughs and good times along the way.” Jim Bell, Director, Marketing, Boston Hub
“We all felt like we were able to N-rich Lives by helping the Food Bank. There is a great deal of meaning and purpose you feel when you directly help provide people with the food they need to thrive – and we’re so grateful we got to be part of it for the day.” Andrew Reinhardt, Director, Web Product Management, Raleigh-Durham Hub
Thank you, Jim and Andrew, for sharing your stories with us! Stay tuned for more N-spiring stories like these from our N-ablites across the globe. In the meantime, check out some of our other VoluNteer Spotlights:
