Rewst integration with Cove helps automate key workflows for increased IT efficiency

In this blog, Ihor Pietukhov explains how the new integration between Rewst, a leading automation platform, and Cove can help drive efficiency in backup processes.

IT service providers face no shortage of daily challenges: limited technical bandwidth, juggling multiple systems, and the never-ending push for operational efficiency.

That’s why we are happy to announce a strategic integration with Rewst, a leading orchestration and automation platform built for MSPs. Rewst empowers users to automate complex business processes across their tools, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and scalability across your backup operations and beyond.

This game-changing partnership promises to simplify backup monitoring, improve customer and user onboarding, streamline billing, and boost your bottom line—using the tools you already have in place.

In this blog, you’ll learn why the Rewst integration with Cove Data Protection matters and how it works.

What it is and why it matters

As noted above, Rewst gives users the ability to automate repetitive tasks, such as creating new customers, managing PSA tickets, or orchestrating advanced backup alerts. Rewst packages Cove’s JSON-RPC API into user-friendly action blocks (called wrappers) that allow users to quickly create backup workflows that automate time-consuming routine tasks.

Benefits include:

  • Seamless Workflows
Rewst’s low-code approach to automation allows users to orchestrate tasks from multiple solutions in a single united workflow. This means technicians spend less time toggling between dashboards and more time focused on strategic, revenue-driving projects.
  • Improved Visibility and Control
An intuitive dashboard that serves as a “command center” for monitoring success, warning, or failure alerts. Trigger automated responses (e.g., open a PSA ticket, send a notification, etc), to improve resolution times.
  • Streamlined Billing and Invoice Reconciliation
Automate billing reconciliation by using Rewst to pull Cove usage data and then update contracts in your PSA. Reduce manual labor, improve billing accuracy, and free finance teams to work on higher value initiatives.

Rewst and Cove, better together

Integrating Rewst into Cove enables users to automate a wide variety of tasks and drive efficiency within their backup processes. The key benefits include:

• Customer and Device creation

Staying on top of network changes can be challenging—especially in highly virtualized and cloud environments. Automating Customer and Device creation reduces manual labor, saves time, and eliminates the possibility of human error. It reduces risk to organizations by ensuring that all devices and customers are backed up.

In Rewst, the “Create Account” and “Create Partner” Actions correspond to Cove API methods for adding new customers and provisioning devices within Cove. Users can incorporate these actions in a comprehensive onboarding workflow to automatically create customers in Cove. As part of this workflow, Rewst is also automating tasks like creating a PSA ticket, requesting the necessary approval, creating the user, purchasing/assigning licenses, applying groups, setting mailbox permissions, and more.

• Real-time backup status monitoring

To manage backups “by exception” you must be able to quickly identify and resolve backup failures. This is especially important in complex and multi-tenant environments. The “EnumerateAccountStatistics” action pulls a real-time backup status data into workflows, such as opening a PSA ticket if a device’s backup status is “Failed.”

“EnumerateAccountStatistics” can be found under Rewst’s “List Account Statistics” Action. This Cove API method retrieves backup status and usage metrics. Rewst’s action block includes the same parameters as the underlying API call, keeping configurations straightforward.

• Invoice generation

Users can harness metrics from Rewst’s “List Account Statistics” to automate invoicing, as well. Calculate billable amounts for each client and push the numbers to your invoicing or PSA system—no manual spreadsheets required.

The following columns may be used for getting usage data:

  1. TM: Total M365 billable users
  2. T3: Selected size
  3. US: Used size
  4. AP: Active Data Source
  5. OP: Profile
  6. PN: Product

“This partnership with Rewst underscores our commitment to innovation and automation,” said Stefan Voss, VP of Product for Cove Data Protection at N‑able. “This integration ensures MSPs can focus on what they do best—providing exceptional service—while minimizing manual effort.”
