Introducing Cisco Meraki Monitoring for N-central

In today’s post, I want to introduce something exciting we’ve been working on recently that’s now available to all partners who use SolarWinds® N-central®.

The N-central release 2020.1 allows partners to use automation/scripting to monitor agentless devices and devices that are not Microsoft Windows devices. The probe will run the automation policy by using various built-in objects or a PowerShell script to monitor the devices.

In addition to this new functionality, I’ve collaborated with a team of experts to build monitoring for the Cisco Meraki platform. I’m pleased to announce this was recently released and made available to all partners of N-central on version 2020.1 or later.

The monitoring includes a variety of custom services providing metrics like bandwidth, device connectivity, security alerts, port status, appliance uplink status, and more. In total, there are 11 services and we’re able to poll 40 data points.

This package includes the following items:

  • A filter to find Meraki devices: you can import this filter into your N-central server and use it to automatically assign monitoring to your customers’ Meraki cloud environments
  • 11 custom services: the services that include the word “Device” focus on device level monitoring.  Services that include the word “Organization” focus on organization-level monitoring:
    • Meraki—Device Cumulative Bandwidth
    • Meraki—Device Performance Score
    • Meraki—Network Appliance Uplink Status
    • Meraki—Network Devices Connectivity Status
    • Meraki—Organization Appliance Uplink Status
    • Meraki—Organization Devices Connectivity Status
    • Meraki—Organization License Details
    • Meraki—Organization Security Events
    • Meraki—Switch Port Status
    • Meraki—Switch Status (Bandwidth and Connectivity)
    • Meraki—WAP Wi-Fi Networks Detail
  • One service template: one service template that contains all the above services to allow you to import and deploy to your Meraki devices easily and conveniently
